Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is private firefighting and why would I need it?

Private firefighting offers dedicated wildfire protection beyond what public fire departments can provide—especially during large, fast-moving fire events. Services may include fire-retardant application, fire weather monitoring, home defense strategies, and even on-site emergency response. Many insurers support or recommend private wildfire defense services for high-value homes in at-risk areas.

2. What is home hardening and how does it help?

Home hardening means making physical improvements to your home and property to help it withstand wildfire exposure. This includes installing ember-resistant vents, clearing vegetation near structures, removing flammable fencing, and creating defensible space. These upgrades significantly improve your home's chances of surviving a wildfire.
➡️ Note: Fire‑Pro USA provides expert recommendations; we do not perform construction work but can refer you to trusted local contractors.

3. What are fire-retardants like PHOS‑CHEK and how do they work?

PHOS‑CHEK is a long-lasting fire retardant that forms a protective barrier on vegetation and surfaces to slow or stop the spread of fire. It’s professionally applied around structures using ground-based equipment.
✔️ Fun fact: PHOS‑CHEK’s active ingredient is ammonium phosphate—a compound also used as a common agricultural fertilizer. After fire season, it may actually promote plant regrowth.
✔️ We use a clear version—no red dye, no staining.

4. When should fire-retardant application be used?

Fire-retardant is most effective when applied in advance of wildfire activity—ideally at the start of fire season or when red flag warnings are issued. It remains active until significant rain or irrigation washes it away. Fire‑Pro USA monitors conditions and advises on optimal timing.

5. What’s the difference between your three service tiers?
Tier 2 – Wildfire Readiness ($900)
  • One PHOS‑CHEK application (2,500 sq ft included)

  • Wildfire risk assessment + home hardening recommendations

  • Additional area: $300 per 2,500 sq ft
➡️ Does not include retreatment or emergency response

Tier 1 – Full-Season Protection ($4,800/year)
  • Everything in Tier 2

  • Fire condition monitoring throughout fire season

  • Reapplication of PHOS‑CHEK as needed

  • Access to Tier 1+ emergency deployment

Tier 1+ – Emergency Structure Defense ($2,000/day)
  • Everything in Tier 1

  • On-site deployment of trained specialists during fire threat

  • Includes structure protection and targeted fire retardant application
➡️ Available only to Tier 1 clients; billed only if on-site deployment occurs

6. Why should I choose Tier 1 instead of Tier 2 alone?

Tier 1 offers full-season support—including fire condition monitoring and retreatment when wildfire risk increases. Most importantly, Tier 1 is the only way to become eligible for Tier 1+ emergency deployment if a wildfire approaches your home. Many clients choose Tier 1 for peace of mind knowing they’re fully covered.

7. Is Tier 1+ guaranteed during a wildfire?

Tier 1+ is an on-demand add-on available only to Tier 1 clients. Deployment depends on local road access, safety conditions, and regulatory clearance. While we do everything we can to respond, access cannot be guaranteed in restricted areas.
💬 Important: The $2,000/day Tier 1+ fee is only billed if on-site structure protection is provided. If we are unable to deploy, you are not charged.

8. Can I upgrade from Tier 2 to Tier 1 later in the season?

Yes. If you start with Tier 2, you can upgrade to Tier 1 and apply the value of your initial service.
⚠️ Upgrades are subject to availability and fire conditions—earlier is better to ensure coverage.

9. Does insurance cover any of this service?

Some insurance providers reimburse or discount for private wildfire defense services. Fire‑Pro USA does not bill insurance directly but can provide documentation for your claim.
📝 We recommend checking with your carrier to see what wildfire prevention options are included in your policy.

10. How long does PHOS‑CHEK long-term fire retardant remain effective?

PHOS‑CHEK is designed to last for months depending on weather, such as a heavy rain.
💧 Heavy rain or overhead watering will reduce effectiveness—so it will not be applied to overhead irrigated vegetation.
💬 Tier 1 customers receive reapplication as needed, i.e. heavy rain or red flag warning.

11. Is there any risk or environmental impact?

PHOS‑CHEK is U.S. Forest Service–approved and widely used in aerial and ground applications.
✔️ It’s biodegradable, non-toxic to humans, and safe for most vegetation.
✔️ We avoid applying near edible gardens or open water sources unless otherwise approved.
